Masao Fujita ’00 played a part behind the scenes at the recent G-8 Summit at Sea Island, Georgia.

A third secretary of congressional affairs for the Embassy of Japan in Washington, D.C., Fujita has been in Savannah for a week for the G-8 Sea Island Summit. Most mornings, he has left for Sea Island at 5 a.m. to check the details of meetings planned with officials from France, Germany, Jordan, Russia and the United Kingdom.

“Very detail oriented,” Fujita, 32, declared of his work at the summit. “Location. Time. Who will participate with the prime minister? Will ties be worn? Or no ties? What will they drink: orange juice or coffee? Do we need interpreters? What order will they enter the room? How many press and what pictures may they take?”

Here at EphBlog, we are firmly in the no-ties camp.
