Interesting article on the faculty / racial slur issue that references Ephblog in today’s North Adams Transcript.
I agree with those who have suggested on here that folks refrain from making any more “educated” guesses as to the perp’s identity, lest any more reputations be wrongly impugned. I imagine the truth will eventually come to light, and when it does, I think the offender should have an opportunity to explain / apologize for their behavior. I’m not trying to excuse the comment, and it’s difficult to imagine a context in which it would be acceptable, but I know that we’ve all said things, divorced from context, that would reflect terribly on us. That term should almost never be used, but even black students and professors have utilized it, acceptably, in some situations.
