Will Cary ’05 points out that Morty is heavily involved with the Duke Rape case, although perhaps better phrasing would be the “Duke False Rape Accusation Case.” He is serving on the Presidential Council, the purpose of which is to

Scrutinize Duke’s responses to the lacrosse team incident, advise the president on best practices in other university settings and consider ways Duke can promote its values.

I will be surprised if such a committee of the good and worthy produces a document worth reading. Will it, for example, provide some commentary on the pathetic behavior of the faculty, as exemplified by the Duke 88? Don’t count on it. If Morty and his fellow panelists are not reading “obscure but brilliant” former Williams professor KC Johnson’s blog about the case, they should be.
