Reporting from D.C.:

First, Dana Leary ’07 was recently recognized as the national player of the year in Division III soccer, and earned a tryout with MLS squad D.C. United in the process. Leary formerly played basketball for Williams as well; the Ephs could use his talents on Saturday, as they are gigantic underdogs against Amherst, who may have the best men’s basketball team in the country (if the Ephs stay within 20 points it would be an upset). The women’s basketball team also plays Amherst on Saturday, and they are expected to fare far better (they haven’t lost to the Jeffs in over five years).

Next, Eph Joanne Ginsberg ’74 was recently appointed new D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty’s Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs.

Finally, this month’s Washingtonian Magazine honored 16 “local heroes,” including Earl A. Powell ’66, director of the National Gallery of Art. Unfortunately, no online version of the story has been made available.
