Both men’s and women’s basketball are in action tonight in the NCAA Division III tournament.

The men, who were recently featured in Sports Illustrated on-line following their dramatic upset victory over Amherst to clinch the conference championship, drew a tough first round match-up against Brockport State at 6:00 tonight. The Ephs eliminated Brockport from the NCAA’s back in 2004, but Brockport has eliminated both Amherst and Trinity in recent years. The Ephs, led by NESCAC coach of the year Dave Paulsen, are clearly an underdog heading into this game, but it should be a good match-up. No live video of this contest, but the game can be heard for free over the phone or internet. Any Ephs in Canton, New York, should drop by.

The women, trying to replicate last year when they won two road games en route to the Sweet 16, drew an even tougher match-up on the road against perennial power Southern Maine. The woman play at 8:00. This game will be webcast by Southern Maine. The women are led by all-NESCAC performers Maggie Miller, Kaylan Tildsley, and Meghan Stetson. Should the women pull a miraculous underdog run to the Final Four, they will be rewarded with virtual home games in Springfield, MA.
