Apply Here

Below is the e-mail reminder to students to apply for committee positions. Highly recommended. You will learn much about life from such an assignment. Take advantage of it. In terms of which committee to apply to, focus (as in class selection) not so much on the topic but on the professor. Pick a committee with faculty/staff Ephs with whom you would like to work closely.

I second that. Committees are very important and ideally suited for the student who wants to make Williams a better place without having their life taken over by extra responsibilities. And getting to know professors in a non-academic setting is a plus.

Yup. If you want to get things done in an area that interests you, being on a committee is way more useful than being on CC.

What I don’t understand, looking at this from the outside, is how applicants would know what their responsibilities might be and whether they could fit a committee in with their other obligations.

I’m thinking about how many students play sports, have labs, and so forth. I guess the committee solicitation appeared earlier, but I wonder about how well students can do thoughtful applications and make commitments on such short notice/little information.

I want to see students productively involved in these committees. Just thoughts about revising the notification calendar for next year…

How about reserving plenty of time for beer drinking, chasing broads (being chased by hunks)and lying back, scratching and passing gas? These are clearly on top of the heirarchy of inalienable joys for youthful good living. Perhaps we can fit in preparing to become a greedy ibanker or an altruistic educator next week.
