Students enjoy the summer-like weather

If you’re looking for an exciting video, you will not enjoy this one, but if you’d like to see a bunch of Williams students hanging out on a beautiful summer-like evening, playing horshoes, croquet and kicking a ball around, this is the video for you.

There was music on a boombox, but unfortunately it was too far away to be detected during most of the video. As always, apologies for the low resolution.

An unwritten law of 50 years ago was “no obvious drinking out-of-doors”, in the enforcement of which the Dean’s Office had a serious interest and the ostensible purpose of which was the preservation of an image of College sobriety for the benefit of the public in general and passing motorists in particular. It is presumed that such an image is no longer important.

I can attest to the beauty of that evening! I was in town for the Ephlats reunion and we all were soaking up the beautiful weather that lasted all weekend. I even walked by the activity in this video – must not have been the right time to be caught on the other side of Route 2 though! Thanks for the video. I was even hoping to be able to find some of the locations from your “guess where the picture is” series – but alas, time ran out.

For those who have not done a summer in the Berkshires while at Williams, you have missed out, but it is not too late. You should check it out, and post on your experiences. Make those of us unable to partake overcome with jelousy!

Get a summer job. Check out some shows at SPAC, hit Great Woods, spend some time at the local swimming holes. Road trip to Boston, NYC, and Burlington. Man….. if only I could be there!

Don’t forget Tanglewood

It’s better than that. Go to the various offerings of WTF, BTF and the other local theatrical venues; Saratoga Racecourse and the Racing Museum; Saratoga Battlefield; Lake George and Fort William Henry; Tanglewood; the Steeplecats; Old Bennington, the Battle Monument, the Battlefield, the Museum and Grandma Moses and the covered bridges; the fishery in Bennington; the Carle Museum in Amherst; outdoor concerts at the Clark; ice cream at Lickety-Split; courtyard concerts at Mass MOCA; the alpine slide at Jiminy; drive, hike or pedal to the top of Mount Greylock and Mount Equinox; concerts in Manchester and Charlemont; find and possibly swim at the Tubbs – send the grandkids to a Williams summer sports camp – just for starters.

And a trip to Montreal!

I can’t believe it was snowing a week before you took this video, Diana. Bad luck for Previews, but maybe it will weed out the less hardy.

Again, thanks for this glimpse into “home” for we ex pats.

Yep. I spent several summers in and around Williamstown. Definitely the time to be there.

The grandkids and I are going to try to find them. Having found them we will proceed as our instincts dictate.
