More good news … looks like the pub may be up and running by the next school year, and in new, expanded digs to boot. Hopefully Mary, et. al. will manage to retain much of the character / coziness that defined the previous incarnation. At the same time, the old pub was a little too cozy on occasion, especially weekend nights, and more space will definitely be a good thing. Looking forward to a burger and a beer in the new digs next time I’m in town … reunion wasn’t quite the same without the pub.

The pertinent excerpt from the article:

In other business, the Selectmen voted 5-0 to allow change of location for the Purple Pub from its fire-damaged location on 8 Bank St. to the garage behind the former Hopkins Store on 61-63 Spring St.

Pub owner Mary Michel said the new 2,000-square-foot bar and restaurant will have two floors with seating for 88 and outdoor patio seating for 24.

“We have really exciting plans, and it’s going to be much better than what we have now,” Michel told the board.

The plans still need building, fire chief and health inspector approval. Michel said she would hope to open in August.
