Williams College Photos

Williams College Admissions

I was in Williamstown recently (the same weekend that Dave was giving his talk, except that I missed it to make it to a wedding). My wife, Katie Davis ’00, lead a discussion group at a teacher conference. While she did that, I wandered around campus taking photos.

Here is a link to my Williams College Flickr Set. I don’t know that any of them are anything new compared to the excellent work that Diana Davis ’07 has been providing us, but for those interested in such things, there you go.

I have about 1000 photos, literally, that I took that day and it is taking me some time to weed through them and find ones worth adding to the set – so it may grow over time as I try to squeeze in time to review them. I have been adding my memories/thoughts on various shots, please feel free to add any of your own as well.

As I have told Eric, I think his photos are great. His pictures have vivid color and interesting viewpoints. I recommend that people check them out, especially this nice one from Stone Hill.

Note, by the way, that Eric also surmised that the balcony group was trustees, a hypothesis which I was severely chastized for making.

Maybe my thoughts on the trustees were biased by your thoughts :)

I don’t know if there was a reunion going on or not, but I followed that group around for a bit and it was a collection of people of varying ages being shown new things.
It wasn’t a tour in the traditional sense, so my first inclination was that they were important people.

And since Dave said something about trustees, I thought maybe they were up there getting a tour.

But if they meet up there regularly and Paresky was done already at their previous meeting, then there would be little reason for them to be up there.

If it wasn’t the trustees, then perhaps there was a reunion going on? I thought they were only in the summer.
It was most definitely something official, from what I saw following them.

As for the trustees, I ran into (literally bumped into him while I was walking backwards and looking through my camera viewfinder) Morty Schapiro coming out of Hopkins and over to Griffen. He was with some men and women in suits and they were deep in discussion about something.
Perhaps those were more likely candidates.

I don’t know and am also having a hard time caring as much as some people here seem to.

I did notice that a few of my pictures seem to overlap what Diana saw (the girl on Chapin Lawn in the chair, for example), so it is likely we were there around similar times and missed each other.

& thank you so much for posting the link. I hope you’ll add more from your stash. You have quite the eye — I am envious.
I am still laughing over your deer comment on the Greylock picture. Those were the days, weren’t they?

Good stuff. Maybe it’s time for Williams to update its “Williams in photos” section with more, newer, and more interesting photos. at the very least, take the photos of Baxter down ….
