The Ephs suffered a disappointing double header loss earlier this year at home against the Jeffs.  Tonight, they aim for payback at Lefrak, and you can watch live.  The Lady Jeffs, let by a stellar new coach who turned that program around in a hurry last season, have dominated the competition all year and are decided favorites in tonight’s match-up.  A very young Eph squad, which relies almost entirely on frosh and sophomore players, has been up and down, but mostly down, this season.  It will take a herculean effort to topple the Amherst juggernaut at home.

The Ephmen, hit hard by injuries all season, are once against without starting center Joe Geoghegan, and they have struggled a bit in games he has missed.  They, too, are the underdog.  The Ephs will be looking to pull of their first regular season road victory at Amherst in well over a decade (they have won two NESCAC title games on Amherst’s home court during that stretch …).  As dominant as the Ephs have been in football over Amherst in recent years, Amherst’s men basketball has been equally dominant.  You can bet Coach Maker will pull out all the stops to try to turn that around.

Two other basketball related notes: nice articles on Eph senior captain Kevin Snyder and Eph recruit Grace Rehnquist.  Go Ephs!
