In the olden days at Williams when something was discussed either at dinner or at a meeting, the members of the group if wishing to show approval would rap on the table with their knuckles.

A thunderous round of applause would cause silverware to clatter and glasses to chime.

At that time, this was quite common. It is still practice when participating in a business meeting in Germany.

My question: is this then-common currency of approval still in use?
