From Kathleen Creel on WSO:
Reminds me of when I was a prospective student (circa 2002) reading WSO, and someone posted the fact that Williamstown was colder than the North Pole (I believe it was -6 vs -1) on a particular day. Having never visited Williamstown (or seen snow) at that point, that was an interesting piece of data.
I am curious about the Da Tournament.

How does this schedule compare with the usual Mountain Day activities?
October 15th, 2009 at 10:04 pmwslack says:
@David: Morning hike to Stone Hill for people who want a free afternoon with some groups.
Big lunch on Paresky lawn with climbing of Chapin.
Afternoon hikes to Stony Ledge.
There are a few other hikes and events, such as a 6 miler over Greylock that leaves at 10 am, but that’s the usual pattern.

Will: Thanks. I think that Scott Lewis (or whoever is making these decisions) is smart to postpone the main hike to the afternoon, both because the weather may be slightly better then and because it is probably easier to rally a critical mass of participants at that time and directly following the Paresky picnic.
Good luck to all!

“Da” tournament = “Wah” tournament, revised for Siberian tastes. It’s a camping/outdoors game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKELYb1Hn8c&feature=related. Trees grow, get cut down, and fall, all to the sound of “Wah!”
